Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 May 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Muhammad Suleman, a sole proprietor operating the Veez brand (“Veez”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) located at Frances Street, South Wentworthville, NSW 2145, Australia, collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use our mobile application and website at veez.app (collectively, the “Service”).

For the purposes of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the data controller / APP entity is Muhammad Suleman at the address above. Privacy enquiries: privacy@veez.app.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information You Provide

When you create an account or use our Service, you may provide us with:

  • Name, email address, and phone number
  • Profile photos and biographical information
  • Sports preferences and skill levels
  • Availability schedule
  • Location data (city, area, or precise location with your permission)
  • Messages and communications with other users
  • Payment information (processed securely through third-party providers)

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we automatically collect:

  • Device information (type, operating system, unique identifiers)
  • Log data (IP address, access times, pages viewed)
  • Usage data (features used, actions taken, time spent)
  • Location data (with your permission)
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies

1.3 Information from Third Parties

We may receive information from:

  • Social media platforms (if you choose to connect your accounts)
  • Authentication providers (Google, Apple Sign-In)
  • Analytics providers

1.4 Biometric Information (Face Verification)

To reduce catfishing and confirm that profile photos belong to a real, live person, Veez offers an optional in-app face verification step. During this step:

  • The Veez app uses your device camera and the Google MediaPipe library on-device to detect and align a single live face. No raw camera frames are uploaded.
  • A single aligned still image is then transmitted over TLS to our backend, which passes it to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Rekognition in the AWS region we operate in, for a one-time face match against the profile photo you already uploaded.
  • The match result (a numeric similarity score and a boolean pass/fail) is returned to Veez. We do not retain the live selfie image, biometric template, embedding, or AWS Face ID after the verification call completes. We only persist a boolean “verified” flag against your account.
  • You can decline face verification; doing so means your profile will not show the “Verified” badge but you can still use the Service.

Face data is a “sensitive” / “special category” of personal information under the Australian Privacy Act, GDPR Art. 9, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA). We process it strictly on the basis of your explicit consent given when you tap “Start verification” in the app. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Match you with compatible sports partners

3. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

3.1 With Other Users

Your profile information (name, photos, sports, skill levels, general location) is visible to other users to facilitate matching. Your exact location is never shared.

3.2 With Service Providers (Sub-processors)

We share the minimum information necessary with the following sub-processors who help us operate the Service. Each is bound by a data processing agreement and industry-standard security commitments.

  • Mapbox, Inc. — map tiles, geocoding, and search; receives your approximate location and IP address to render the map.
  • Sentry (or an equivalent crash-reporting provider) — crash and performance diagnostics, where enabled.
  • Email delivery providers — to send transactional emails (sign-in codes, account alerts) from no-reply@veez.app and marketing emails from marketing@veez.app where you have opted in.
